Easier for a camel
This is a good read, and the comments are worthwhile too. I see some validity to both sides of the argument, but the my overall opinion is reflected by the majority of the comments. I think its hard for the rich to absorb the feelings of the poor as they left that group with intentions of doing so. Whether they struggled, got lucky, and were able to make something of themselves or inherited the money one thing is true: they no longer want to be associated with the lower class(es). Buying a larger home, living in a more expensive community, associating with the more wealthy, and lavish spending to show extravagance are examples of the class movement. I had a family member who 'made it'. He was very prosperous in the 1970s. I am proud of what he did, but there was an air of arrogance and elitism to his personality. In the end, he died while having no association with his family (due to his financial superiority). He spent days on end with the lower class, and was one himself (earlier in life), but in the end his purposeful class migration left him alone in his dying days.
